DIRECTOR'S STATEMENT

Three hundred dollars and a DSLR camera. That's all we had.

That's why My Girl, Skelly is one of my proudest films. Made in the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic for an assignment at York University, the film was made with no crew, $300 and a Canon 80D in the middle of winter.

I wanted to challenge myself by making something a bit different. COVID restrictions were very tight when I was conceiving an idea for my project, so I thought it would be funny if I made a film where the protagonist is dressed in a full gas mask and hazmat suit. That way nobody can give me smack for breaking COVID restrictions. Loop hole, baby!

I hope this film inspires young filmmakers to make something ambitious despite the lack of resources they may have. Don't wait, tell your story! As long as the story is powerful, budget is just a number on the right-most column on IMDbPro.
